WELCOME TO MACPHERSON’S HIGHLAND REALM
"Touch not the cat bot a glove." — Clan Macpherson For generations, the Highland spirit has lived not just in the land, but in the people who carried its stories across oceans and through time. MacPherson’s Highland Realm was created to honor that legacy.
THE ANCESTRAL EXPEDITION •
FROM BADENOCH TO THE SMOKIES
From the Spey to the Little Pigeon River
1. The Stolen Son of Badenoch (Scotland to the Colonies)
Torn from the Scottish coast and forced aboard an Atlantic merchant vessel, young Donald MacPherson was shipped far from his homeland into indentured servitude. He arrived with nothing but his Highland name and an unbroken spirit. Refusing to be defeated, he served his time, won his freedom, and planted the MacPherson roots into American soil.
2. The Mountain Homestead (Petersburg, West Virginia)
Following the spine of the mountains, generations of MacPhersons established deep roots in the rugged hills of West Virginia. It was here that our metalcraft, self-reliance, and fierce love for the mountains flourished—cherished so deeply by our grandmother Ruth MacPherson that, even when life later pulled the family toward Louisville, Kentucky, her heart remained forever tied to the mountain ridges.
3. The Smoky Hollows (Sevierville, Tennessee)
Carrying that enduring mountain spirit onward, our journey found its natural home along the Little Pigeon River in the foothills of the Smokies. Here, the ancient kitchen traditions, mountain botanicals, and raw comb honey are kept alive. MacPherson’s Highland Realm stands as a living tribute to the boy who survived the crossing and the mountain kin who never forgot where they came from.
